Activities
In Agaete
- Huerto de las Flores : beautifully maintained botanical garden with function as a tourist office [currently closed]
- Piscina Natural de Agaete : Open-air «swimming pools» in the rocks on the beach. There are other natural swimming pools on the coast around Galdar, but the Piscina de Agaete with the view of the Cola del Dragon is the best. For real swimming: harbor pier
- Maipés : one of the largest archaeological sites on the island (700 graves)
- Espacio Tea : Cultural center with concerts and other activities
- El Solar: Bar with concerts
In the area of Agaete
- El Valle de Agaete (valley from Agaete; one of the most fertile areas of the island, including coffee plantations). At the end of the road to the valley: hike El Sao – El Hornillo (short, somewhat steep hike)
- Amagro (mountain near Galdar with a great panoramic view from the coast near Galdar via Sardina to the Cola del Dragon)
- Cueva Pintada (painted cave) (Galdar) & Old Town of Galdar
- Hike Sardina – Agaete (along the coast with spectacular cliffs; possibly by bus to Galdar, from there on foot in 90 minutes to Sardina; Sardina itself is worth seeing)
- Hike Agaete – San Pedro (high trail with beautiful views of the Valle de Agaete)
- Playa de Guayedra (beautiful beach, not without danger; the hiking trail is currently closed, the beach can be reached via road)
- Coast around Galdar: numerous beautiful spots ( Faro de Sardina lighthouse , Punta de Galdar , El Agujero & Bocabarranco archaeological site …)
- Charco Azul in Risco (walk to a waterfall in spectacular scenery – usually without enough water…)
- Hike Ruta Playa del Puerto in La Aldea (a little further away, but the top of the Cola del Dragon also belongs to Agaete)
Gran Canaria Bucket List
- Tejeda : very beautiful village, uniquely situated in a scenic setting and starting point for numerous hikes, e.g. to Roque Bentayga and Roque Nublo (note: you have to make a reservation for Roque Nublo ). The famous bakery Dulceria Nublo smells throughout the village…
- Tamadaba : Nature park around the Tamadaba mountain; very beautiful hikes with panoramic views
- Pico de las Nieves: highest point on the island; somewhat overrun by tourists.
- Aldea-Artenara: impressive road through narrow canyon
- Las Palmas: a real city with cultural offerings ( https://auditorioteatrolaspalmasgc.es/ ) etc. Old town: Casa de Colon , Plaza Mayor and Museo Canario . Modern part: stroll around José y Lopez , Playa de las Canteras (various surf shops and schools). Also worth mentioning: El Confital beach, Poema del Mar (beautiful aquarium). Note: with the Moxsi app you can use the yellow rental bikes.
- dunes of Maspalomas
